Back when my friends played with Tonka Trucks and Transformer action figures, I was in the kitchen accomplishing extraordinary culinary feats with crispy burned edges and too much salt — inspired by The Galloping Gourmet, The Frugal Gourmet and The French Chef with Julia Child.
Who would have thought my childhood obsession for food and travel would become an ever-evolving career. I have published articles, presented at conferences, taught as an adjunct professor, owned a food tour business, and promoted destinations across the globe.
In 2003, I received a B.S. in Hospitality and Tourism Management from Grand Valley State University. I went on to earn a Masters in Food Studies from Chatham University for my work in culinary tourism development in 2012.
